Camp Hero, located in
scenic montauk NY, was established in 1942. It was recently
re-opened to the public as a state park.
After world war 2, the base was basically used as the east coasts
main defense against the godless commies. Incase there was ever a red
dawn type invasion on the US, this would be the first line of
defense.
The SAGE Radar tower was built in 1971 by the United States Air
Force. By the time it was built, the base was used for miliatary
purposes during the Cold War.

In this area of the park, the silos for the 16mm guns were located
here for coastal defense while the United States was fighting in
World War 2.

One of the silos where the guns were kept. It is now a picnic
area.

The Village, while being far from it, appeared to be an
inconspicuous, sleepy little fishing village.
In reality, these were the living barracks and quaters for both
the Soldiers occupied there and the Scientists during World War
II.
It was disguised as a small town to remain hidden from any planes
that might be flying overhead.

This "church" was actually a gymnasium that soldiers recreated in.

On the way, we saw some undeground entrances hidden in the hills.

Finally, we reached the cliffs

There were some beautiful views.
